Why Tribulation-prepare for 48 months?

Diane writes:

Hello there Nick,

I can see what it is that you are saying.  Is not the dragon satan?

Rev 13:3-5
3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.
4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?
5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.  KJV

Isn't satan the beast / dragon who comes and heals the deadly wound? By the looks of this then it would read that the system beast continues for another 42 months after the wound is healed by satan present on earth.

What about the silence in heaven for the space of an half of an hour?

Also, why do you feel we need to prepare and store for 48 months.  It reads to me that we will not be able to buy or sell when satan appears.

When will your book be finished and can you please let me know when it is.  Is it e-book or book book? I'd love to read it.

Thanks a lot.    Denise

Hello again, Denise.  May I repost your above, below; and insert answers in [bracketed, blue text]?

"Hello there Nick,

I can see what it is that you are saying.  Is not the dragon satan?" [Yes he is; documentation: Rev 12:9]

KJV

"Isn't satan the beast / dragon who comes and heals the deadly wound? By the looks of this then it would read that the system beast continues for another 42 months after the wound is healed by satan present on earth." [The confusion here is this: The beast is the "New World Order," so to speak; and the dragon is satan/antichrist himself.  Two different beasts.  Notice in your above verse 4:  "And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast".  Anitchrist (satan) is the dragon that empowers the 1st beast BEFORE satan/antichrist physically gets here.  Just like the Holy Spirit empowers God's people from above; i.e., God's Spirit is here (the Holy Spirit) while God is yet in heaven; the same goes for satan's evil spirit(s).]

"What about the silence in heaven for the space of an half of an hour?"  [A pause.  Call it the calm before the storm, if you will.  I do not ascribe any significance at this time to the length of this pause; i.e., the silence for HALF AN HOUR, though I understand what others are implying of this time.  And it is a set time, but I do not think at this time it is significant regarding setting dates or interpreting lengths of times.  It does mean something, but what it means seems unclear to me at this point.  I do not interpret it to mean half of the Tribulation, as some do.  But it may well refer to that, symbolically.  For, the Tribulation is referred to as the hour of temptation in Rev 3:10.  I just feel that at this time not enough info is known to set any time length for the half hour in heaven.  And then one can become even more confused if he ponders whether a half an hour in heaven is as long as a half of an ??? on Earth.  You know what I mean?]

"Also, why do you feel we need to prepare and store for 48 months.  It reads to me that we will not be able to buy or sell when satan appears." [My suggestion to store up for 48 months is not based upon the buying and selling.  And also notice that the Scriptures never tell us to store up at all.  But my reasoning is that IF one is predisposed (or led) to set aside provisions to endure the entire Tribulation, he should have enough for 48 months.  Why 48 months?  Because the first "half" of the Tribulation is 42 months, and satan isn't here yet, but the persecutions begin; for, the first beast:

Rev 13:7-8
7 And it was given unto him
[first beast, the NWO (NOTE: "him" here, is the same Greek word (autos) as "it," and "she," and "that self-same one/thing," etc.]
to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.
8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.  KJV

That beast wasn't satan/antichrist.  This throws many people off.  Satan/antichrist is ANOTHER beast, and he comes to this Earth three verse later:

Rev 13:11-14
11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.
12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.  KJV

And then the second "half" of the Tribulation is five months, and satan (antichrist) IS here.  So that the whole Tribulation is 47 months.  I advised "48 months" just to be sure that you had enough, or in case you jumped the gun and started a month early.  Better to have too much than not enough.  Do as you are led.  Many feel very strongly that to store up is to show lack of faith that God would provide (and for them then perhaps it would be).  But by present opinion is that He gave us good minds and expects us to use them.

God is able to provide, for sure!  But I see no sin in keeping a level headed defense plan.  But if you do not feel led, or are unable to supply yourself, then trust God.  But then, is God letting us know what is going to happen so that we do prepare?  Hmmmmm.....   Presently, I cannot afford to make these preparations; and to tell you the truth, if the Tribulation started tomorrow I would have full confidence that God has me by the hand.  However, if He suddenly made a way available for me to prepare, I would take it as a sign that He sent me inspiration to plan ahead.  I think that for every Christian it may be different.  Do as you personally are led of God, and you shall be fine (pray and ask Him; He will not leave you comfortless--you will find your individual answer.  Don't worry, you WILL know).  He will touch your heart if He seeks that you set up some provisions for the storm to come.  But it isn't a sin if you make plans, asking God for guidance and blessings, is it?  No, I think not.  Besides, maybe He wants some people to be able to share and help others.  Who knows?  He will make it known to each faithful Christian heart.

And it isn't only because of the "not being able to buy or sell without the mark of the beast" that we store food and prepare.  During the Tribulation, Christians shall be hunted for conversionthis happens before antichrist actually gets here; for, when he is here, he will already have the worship of most the world.  And it seems a little short-sighted to think that the beast (the one-world system), on the one hand: will not let us buy food; but on the other hand, that they will leave us alone otherwise, to ride out the Tribulation in safety with our stored provisions, while they all sit around worshipping satan (antichrist).  The only ones to make it, will be the ones that the Jews can't find.  Well, to hide, you need provisions.  It would be pointless to store food in the cities, where you can be easily found and arrested.

As you can guess, most are going to be in quite a dangerous predicament during the Tribulation.]

"When will your book be finished and can you please let me know when it is.  Is it e-book or book book? I'd love to read it." [Thank you.  It seems now months off, but I will announce it to the mailing list and on the Website.  You can sign up for the mailing list below.  It is going to be a "book-book", paper and ink.  I'm trying to keep it under 350 pages, 8 1/2 x 11, double-column, ten-point text; illustrated.  It will go far deeper than anything I've ever written before it.]

"Thanks a lot.  Denise."  [You're welcome.  May He touch your heart to find that confidence to know in your heart that He will let you know, in Jesus Christ's precious and powerful name.  Amen?

PS: He understands that we are all a little edgy about this 'Tribulation thing.'  He doesn't get angry at us for our fears.  It is normal and human to fear the unknown threat.]

God bless the study of His Word, in Jesus Christ's name!

GPS, RFID, and Cell Phone tracking during the Tribulation (and now)

Mark writes:

"I was reading the part about what to do to prepare for the tribulation. Alot of what you said I had already started thinking about. But the cell phone part is wrong. They can only tell the tower the call came from not the location of the phone. The phone would have to have GPS [Global Positioning Satellite] to do that. Anyway I just found your site and I thank God for it. I have spent alot of time on to stay in touch with what is going on in the world regarding prophecy. Your site goes so much farther.

GOD bless you

Hi Mark, thank you for the compliment.  You are incorrect, though, regarding the below statement:

"They can only tell the tower the call came from not the location of the phone. The phone would have to have GPS to do that."

Even today, when you call Police with a cell phone, they can tell where you are within a couple of blocks.  In Chicago, they can tell within 2 blocks because there are so many cell towers.  Haven't you noticed the several news-stories, wherein someone is shot in their car, calls Police on a cell phone, and then passes out without giving their location; or, someone is kidnapped, placed in the trunk of their car, and the perpetrator drives off with them, and the person in the truck calls 911 with their cell phone―then the police find them by cell phone tracking?  It has been in several news stories that I have heard.  And this was even going back a couple of years―the technology now is even better and more accessible.  They aren't finished improving these technologies.  And they are dual-use.

The way it works is this: Triangulation.  Every cell call has attached to it a signal that you don't hear.  This signal bears the unique number of your cell phone.  This number follows the phone call as it bounces off cell towers, into a land station, and then to the phone that you are calling.

This signal leaves your phone in a 360 degree pattern.  So it hits not only one cell tower, but any towers in range.  With the proper software, any municipality (or intelligence agency) can read the distance of your phone to the cell tower, and then from your phone to a second tower, and finally, your phone to a third tower.  Hence, triangulation (triangle).  With the distance to any given three points, one can know the exact location of the phone sending the signal.  observe below:

If you are on your cell phone; and if I know the exact distance between tower 1 and the phone, tower 2 and the phone, and tower 3 and the phone; and I know the exact location of the towers 1, 2, and 3then I can pinpoint exactly where you are when you are using the phone.

But this only works in major metropolitan areas, and not in the country as well, because the more towers that there are, the better the chance of having three in range at the same time.  Now you know why they are building these towers so close together and in such great numbers in the citiesfar closer and far more numerous than would be needed for good phone service.

But even if only two cell towers pick up your signal, I can find two possible locations for you.  Then I would just have to dispatch crews to two locations instead of just one to find you.  But if only one tower picks up your signal, as in the more remote areas; then you could be anywhere in a 360° circle of the tower.  And if I only have one tower tracking you, then I must send out many crews to locate you.  But even then I know an approximate locality of you, within, say, a mile or so, depending on terrain and obstructions which affect the travel of the signal.  Observe:

Two Towers Tracking One Tower Tracking

Now with Nextel phones, and all the others that are moving in the direction of the Nextel technology, I can find you even when you are not using the phone (as long as it is turned on).  The reason for that is that Nextel has the walkie-talkie feature.  With this feature the phone is always on-line.  It is always connected to cell towers so that when someone walkie-talkie's you, you get it instantly.  Therefore, you are always broadcasting a locating beacon.  Many other cell phones have a signal light on them that tells you when you are within range to make a call.  These usually work on a colored light system-when you have a green light, you can get a connection, when the light is red, you can'y send or receive calls.  Well, how do you think that the phone knows that it could get a signal if you tried to call?  It knows because it is sending out a beacon, and if it returns to the phone, the phone knows that the signal is 'establishable,' (actually it already is established, you just aren't using it), and the indicator light goes to green.  'They' can track this beacon that your phone is sending, even if you aren't actually actively talking on the phone.

Regarding GPS (Global Positioning Satellite); these will be detectable even if the phone is offNextel is now offering GPS as an added feature.  Unsuspecting people will buy this feature under the guise of being able to get directions and having an emergency locator, like ONSTAR on the newer GM cars.  Soon all phones will have this built-in, as will all cars.  Some say that many cars, year 1999-2000 and up, have this technology built-in.  This I haven't confirmed.  But there are stories of black boxes on some of these cars.  There was a case, about a year or two ago, where I remember a lawsuit revealing that a Limousine had a black box in it, and the lawyers used that crash info from the Limo's black box (a recorder that charts speed and braking, etc., just prior to an accident), to sue for damages in an auto-accident lawsuit.

Senate Ponders Police-State National ID Bill
Get ready for a national ID -- as early as next month.

by James W. Harris
April 2005

In February the U.S. House of Representatives voted 261-161 to send H.R.418, the "REAL ID Act of 2005," to the Senate. All but 8 Republicans supported the bill; three-quarters of Democrats opposed it.

House Republicans then attached the REAL ID proposal to an almost-certain-to-pass emergency spending bill for military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, thus allowing it to bypass the usual legislative hearings and debate.

The Senate is expected to pass the bill. And the REAL ID is strongly backed by the Bush administration.

The REAL ID Act essentially turns state drivers' licenses into national ID cards, with extraordinary powers. Ominously, the bill gives authority to the Secretary of Homeland Security to unilaterally add additional information requirements.

Here are some details:

* The REAL ID Act would establish a vast centrally-coordinated national database of ID holders and their personal information, including, for starters, name, date of birth, place of residence, Social Security number, photograph, physical description and possibly much more. Far more information could be required at the Secretary of Homeland Security's wish.

* The ID would essentially be an internal passport that would have to be shown before buying a gun from a dealer, or accessing planes, trains, national parks, court houses, etc. It will be impossible to function normally in America without it.

* The national database would be shared with Canada and Mexico. "There are no limits on what happens to the database of sensitive information on Americans once it leaves the United States for Canada and Mexico -- or perhaps other countries," said libertarian Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX), who denounced the bill in Congress.

* By calling for the use of "common machine-readable technology," the REAL ID Act paves the way for the federal government to force every state to put radio-frequency identification (RFID) chips into these ID cards. As Congressman Ron Paul notes: "This legislation gives authority to the Secretary of Homeland Security to expand required information on driver's licenses, potentially including such biometric information as retina scans, finger prints, DNA information, and even Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) radio tracking technology. Including such technology as RFID would mean that the federal government, as well as the governments of Canada and Mexico, would know where Americans are at all times of the day and night."

The REAL ID bill is more than a civil liberties nightmare. It exposes every American to terrible accidental or criminal abuse. Even a small percentage of errors would cause major personal and social disruption. And the IDs would be irresistible targets for forgers and identity thieves.

The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), a major online civil liberties group, says: "The Senate needs to be reminded that such proposals have always been rejected for good reason: our privacy and civil liberties are at the core of what it means to be an American citizen."

And there are tracking chips [RFID Chips (Radio-Frequency IDentification)] that are as small as a pin-head.  There was a big stink a couple of years ago about Wall-Mart placing these chips in every product they sold.  Suppliers could not sell Wall-Mart merchandise unless they had these chips.  The ostensive (supposed) purpose of these chips were for inventory control.  They could point their handheld devise at a pallet of boxes, and every item on the pallet would return a specific signal-thus, without opening the boxes, they could tell that they had, say 425 Music. 200 of them Elvis's best hits, 50 of them Frank Sinatra, 42 of them Blues traveler, etc.  The stink came along when people realized that when Wall-Mart sold you the CD (or Blue Jeans, etc.); they never turned off the chip, they couldn't!

So that with the right technology and active interface with municipality and Credit Card information, and store records: a satellite in space could read you from miles above, and know that you are wearing size 33 length x 33 waist boot-cut Blue Jeans with red trim around the pockets, and you are carrying an Elvis Presley best-hits CD; all of which you purchased at Wall-Mart store # 586, in Chicago, Il., on June 20, 2005, at 4:23 pm, central time; using MasterCard number xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-1234; with a billing address of 1234 Fifth St., Anytown, USA.  (And by the way, you are late on your last payment), and cross-checking records shows that your Driver's License number is xxxxxxxxxxx, and you have a parking ticket outstanding on your 2003 Ford Probe, which you got at 4:30 am, on May 5th, 2005, at 5678 N. Ninth St., Anytown, USA.

You get the point.  See also the news-item at right, regarding possible (probable) National ID Cards with RFID chips imbedded themvirtually establishing your location every minute of every day!  Wouldn't that be handy for them when they start to round-up Christians for conversion and forced renunciations of Jesus Christ under threat of beheading?

Let your imagination lead you to what 'big brother' could do with this technology!  Of course, Wall-Mart tells you that with this streamlined inventory control, they can offer you their goods for less money.  You are elated to save a little money.  Not knowing that all this technology is dual-use.  How would you like a tracking chip glued into the seam of your Bible during the Great Tribulation?  Far-fetched?  Today it may seem so, tomorrow it won't be.

Pretty slick, aren't they?  They make us ask for the technology that they will turn against us.  The best phone to use in the Tribulation would be a 'borrowed' one (from someone that does not know you), that won't be identifiable to you.  But then, once you call a targeted number, they will then search out for that phone's signal signature, assuming that it is someone that they are looking for.

So you would have to change phones often.  And then there is the problem of them tracing the number that you are calling and arresting (or placing under surveillance) anyone on that line.  Best bet is no technology, no electronics, no contact.  This could only be accomplished if one had well laid out plans before anything Happened.  You can't reach out to anyone.  As you may have observed, these tactics are the same ones that a terrorist would use.  Hence, you can see that the government's efforts at tracking undesirable 'terrorists' are dual-usethey can use the same technology to track the undesirables of the Tribulationthe Christian.  Do you see now why the 'terrorist boogey-man' is quite a convenient development for the powers that be?  This is why many feel that the whole 911 thing was orchestrated by the hidden powers to take away civil and privacy rights, and to put into place a global surveillance and tracking grid, in preparation for the Tribulation; where Christians shall be hunted like 'terrorists.'

Short-wave radio, however, is undetectable while simply receiving.  It can only be traced at the transmission point.  I suspect that there will be short-wave radio traffic during any emergency, giving info and details from all over the globe; as there was during 911, I believe.  The key, of course, is to know what channels to trust, for the conspirators are not above pretending to be Patriots and Christians and sending out false information to lure people into arrest situations.

I also believe that during the Tribulation the Internet will be taken offline.  There are thirteen global Internet hubs that control the traffic of the entire WWW.  Gee, now who do you think controls them, who pays the electric bills for them, who has their hand on that switch to turn them off?  Can't happen?  Look at China, the State controls all info flowing in and out on the Internet in China.  Also, with the advent of powerful Internet Filters, which we are seeing now under the guise of "protecting our children from porn," they can filter out whatever they do not wish to be posted.  If they call their operation, let's say, "Brown Cow," then every Internet page with the term "Brown Cow" on it, will return with a "Page can't be found" message.

These people aren't stupid, and they have been planning this for a very long timetraded their very souls for it even.  You must be wise as the serpents.  The International Jew is very wise, and very evil; they shall stoke the fires of the Tribulation for satan, 3˝ years before he (as antichrist) gets here.  Will you be ready?  Do you need to make ready?  That is an individual question between each Christian and God.

God bless the study of His Word, in Jesus Christ's name!

Documentation of Rupert Murdoch's (the purveyor of Pornography) control over the New International Version Bible (the NIV)

Robert writes:

Can you help me please?  I have been discussing the NIV [New International Version], verses the KJV [King James Version] With a rapture believer; I quoted a piece from your study, Adulter [Adulterations in the Newer Bible Versions (NIV, NASB...); Proof that the King James Bible (KJV) is the True Word of God ], namely:

"Would it surprise you that the holder of the Copyright of the New International Version Bible also holds the copyright for Hustler magazine - pornography. Rupert Murdock, called "Media's prince of Darkness" by Chicago columnist Mike Royco, owns the copyright & exclusive printing rights on the most sold newer Bible version in the world, the NIV (through Zondervan Publishing House, Grand Rapids Michigan, which he owns). Murdoch also owns the copyright on another corrupt Bible version, the Amplified Version."

I was quite surprised when he told me that the copyright was in fact owned by the International Bible Society.  I checked and he does seem correct.  I’ve been accused of defaming the word of God….Can you explain this Rupert Murdock …copyright thing please.

Thanking you in advance……Robert.

Hi Robert.  Regarding my statement [in Adulterations in the Newer Bible Versions...]:

"Would it surprise you that the holder of the Copyright of the New International Version Bible also holds the copyright for Hustler magazine - pornography. Rupert Murdock, called "Media's prince of Darkness" by Chicago columnist Mike Royco, owns the copyright & exclusive printing rights on the most sold newer Bible version in the world, the NIV (through Zondervan Publishing House, Grand Rapids Michigan, which he owns). Murdoch also owns the copyright on another corrupt Bible version, the Amplified Version."

Murdock owns the company that owns the company that owns the company...  That is how it is done; everything in big business is done by  Corporations―this is to protect the owner from lawsuits, etc.  In the big business world there are few one-owner companies.  Every company on the stock market, just about, is a corporation.  So, for example: If I own McDonald's, and McDonald's Corporation trademarked the Big Mac Sandwich™; then I, as owner of McDonald's, hold the trademark on the Big Mac Sandwich

Likewise, when one buys a publishing house, he becomes the owner of all the copyrights which that publishing house holds.

There is a clip that on a cassette tape by Gail Riplinger that names the companies.  When I get a little time later, I will listen to the 2 hour tape again and transcribe the quote.

I haven't had time to check out the below info that you gave in your e-mail:

"...I was quite surprised when he told me that the copyright was in fact owned by the International Bible Society."

I don't know where you got the info on the International Bible Society, because Zondervan was the original publisher.  But what you could do, is see who owns/is CEO of the International Bible Society.  Then check the parent company the same way.  And on and on until you get to top.

Gail's info [in New Age Bible Versions] came out 5-8 years ago, and it was explosive.  I have no doubt that it would have been desirable for them to hide Murdoch's ownership.  In fact, probably the best thing would have been to sell the copyright, or hide it under another parent corporation―but I don't know if that was the case.  Have you also check out about the Amplified Bible version?  Murdoch had that as well.  It sounds like there may have been some cover-up going on.  Remember, companies change ownership and multi-corporations shuffle all the time, in the financial world.  Let me know what you find.

I have also seen several articles attacking Gail (of course they had to attack her), but have never heard the Murdoch issue challenged.

I will get you that exact quote, with citation, and ordering info for the tape--so you can clear your name.  But is it any surprise that you Rapture pal can only argue over copyrights, instead of the falseness of the Rapture doctrine?  I mean, the copyright holder of the NIV has absolutely nothing to do with the Rapture doctrine.

God bless the study of His Word, in Jesus Christ's name!
Nick Goggin

After returning the above reply to Robert, I decided to take the time (two hours) to document my statements.  And as reader, Robert, was being attacked based on something that he quoted from me, I felt the responsibility to go ahead and further document my info, so as to clear Robert's name of the libel that the Rapturist hung on him; i.e., "I’ve been accused of defaming the word of God"

Below is that documentation (to which Robert thanked us).  In the several excerpts below, we shall prove the (pictured) pyramid structure regarding Rupert Murdoch, purveyor of Pornography, and the New International Version Bible (the NIV):

Documentation that the International Bible Society does not hold exclusive rights to the NIV

“...In the U.K., Harper-Collins' religious division also publishes the Good News Bible, which was originally called Good News for Modern Man, while, as stated, Zondervan holds the exclusive rights to that and the publication of the NIV version of the Bible, in partnership with the International Bible Society (IBS).  ” Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment & Zondervan To Distribute DVD/VHS of Mel Gibson's The Passion of The Christ.  June 11, 2004  Source:

King James Bible Perfection vs. New Bible Versions Perversion

"A stunning new video by Gail Riplinger

The documented revelations in this 3-hour video series will convince all but the ungodly that the new bible versions are a plague and blot on the historic Christian faith.  Gail Riplinger, author of the bestselling book, New Age Bible Versions, reveals that billionaire pornographer Rupert Murdoch, owner of Fox TV's crude Bart Simpson and Married With Children programs, is also the owner of the printing rights to the New International Version (NIV) of the bible.  Meanwhile, high-ranking Catholic Cardinal Martini now edits the Greek text underlying both the New International (NIV) and New American Standard (NAS) versions.  This outstanding video also exposes: (1) Dr. Martin Woudstra, a supporter of the homosexual movement, was in charge of the translation for the NIV's Old Testament; (2) The New King James Version (NKJV) logo is the ancient symbol for the pagan trinity of false gods and is prominent today in the New Age movement; (3) There is a multitude of mistranslated words and omissions in the new bible versions.

Murdoch owns Fox TV, which owns Zondervan Publishers, which published the NIV Bible version

“One thing the film has done in Hollywood is make the money people stand up and take notice. One was Rupert Murdoch at Fox, who called his execs on the carpet and asked them why they passed on "The Passion.” They made the excuse that everybody passed and that the movie was a fluke. Murdoch corrected them by saying the audience is not a fluke, and if you build movies for them, they'll come, and he said he wants to see Fox put out more faith-based movies. Fox owns Zondervan, so Murdoch suggested an adaptation of "The Purpose Driven Life," [which is being made].”

Ex-hostage strikes book deal  Jun 21, 2005
"ATLANTA, Georgia (CNN) -- Ashley Smith, who was held hostage after the Atlanta courthouse killings in March, has signed a book deal with HarperCollins Publishers, the company said Wednesday. The book will be titled "Unlikely Angel: The Untold Story of the Atlanta Hostage Hero" and is to be published jointly by HarperCollins subsidiaries William Morrow and Zondervan, a leading Christian communications company. (CNN -- Showbiz)"

Murdoch owns Harper Collins (which owns Zondervan Publishing, which has the printing rights over the NIV)

"This article is a critical insight into Rupert Murdoch's book publishing industry, which only incorporates in his terms a small part of his overall media empire. In real terms his book publishing interests are an empire in their own right under the roof of HarperCollins plc, which itself is under the wing of [Murdoch's] News Corporation. HarperCollins founded in 1990 is a world-wide publishing business with 19 imprints and divisions that have interests in North America, Canada, Europe, Australia and Asia. This article looks closely at the problems caused by one mans firm grip over such a large conglomerate and ultimately a massive sphere of influence over the planet. It focuses to a certain extent on the problems caused by the throwing out of Chris Patten's book on Hong Kong which as well as causing temporary embarrassment has rocked the whole of HarperCollins publishing with expected, serious long term damage." GOP Corporate Donors Cash In on Smut

By Terry M. Neal Staff Writer
Tuesday, December 21, 2004; 6:24 AM

"EchoStar Communications Corporation, the No. 2 satellite provider, whose chief financial backers include Mr. Murdoch, makes more money selling graphic adult films through its satellite subsidiary than Playboy, the oldest and `best-known` company in the sex business, does with its magazine, cable and Internet businesses combined, according to public and private revenue accounts by the companies.

… For instance, Ruport Murdoch, the controlling owner of News Corp. -- which owns both the conservative Fox News and the popular and frequently salacious Fox TV -- continues to cash in. On one hand, Fox News employs commentators who promote the connection between Republicans and family values while other divisions of the company profit from sexually explicit content.

In fact, Murdoch's Fox TV network is fighting a `record-setting` FCC indecency fine for an episode of the `now-canceled` "Married by America" (which featured `whipped-cream`-covered strippers at a bachelor party and digitally obscured nudity) by arguing that the government should not even be in the business of regulating decency on the public airwaves.

Of course pornography isn't the primary source of income for News Corp. or any of the other companies mentioned here. But it is a growing source. Multichannel News, an industry wag, wrote in June that adult entertainment revenue on cable had grown from $263 million in 1998 to $609 million in 2002, the latest year for which figures were available. Other articles on MSN, Insight on the News and Beliefnet provide more information on the industry's growth.”

"MURDOCH, KEITH RUPERT, (b. March 11, 1931, Melbourne, Vic., Australia), Australian-born newspaper publisher and media entrepreneur, founder and head of the global media holding company The News Corporation Ltd., which governed News Limited (Australia), News International (U.K.), and News America Holdings Inc. (U.S.). Murdoch's corporate interests centred on newspaper, magazine, book, and electronic publishing; television broadcasting; and film and video production, principally in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia . . . . Murdoch took residence in the United States in 1974 and became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1985, based in New York City.

In the 1980s and '90s Murdoch amassed major holdings in other communications ventures, including radio and television stations and video, film, and record companies, as well as book publishing. In 1985 he acquired Twentieth Century-Fox Film Corporation and bought several independent American television stations from Metromedia, Inc., consolidating both these ventures into a new company, Fox, Inc. He bought the Australian news group The Herald and Weekly Times Ltd. in 1987. He thereafter purchased a number of book-publishing companies--including, in the United States, the prestigious Harper & Row Publishers (1987), the religious publisher Zondervan (1988), and the giant textbook and trade publisher Scott, Foresman & Company (1989), and, in the United Kingdom, the venerable William Collins PLC (1989); these companies and some operations in Australia and New Zealand were merged in 1990 as HarperCollins Publishers. In Britain in 1989 Murdoch inaugurated Sky Television, a four-channel satellite service, which merged with the rival British Satellite Broadcasting in 1990 to become British Sky Broadcasting...." The Satanic Bible and the NIV under same umbrella:

Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment & Zondervan To Distribute DVD/VHS of Mel Gibson's The Passion of The Christ June 11, 2004

“…HarperCollins UK [United Kingdom] website lists links to their other divisions such as the occult focused Thorsons/Element, which deals in witchcraft, divination, magik, sex and similar material. Other divisions include: HarperCollins Children's Books, Voyager Books, Collins, Collins Education, and HarperCollins Crime.13 [13―]

In the U.K., Harper-Collins' religious division also publishes the Good News Bible, which was originally called Good News for Modern Man, while, as stated, Zondervan holds the exclusive rights to that and the publication of the NIV version of the Bible, in partnership with the International Bible Society (IBS).

Harper-Collins publishes and distributes such books as the Satanic Bible and a 'companion book', Satanic Rituals, both by known satanist Anton La Vey. HarperCollins also publishes such controversial books as: Goddess in My Pocket (Trade PB) Simple Spells, Charms, Potions, and Chants to Get You Everything You Want; Spiral Dance, The - 20th Anniversary (Trade PB) A Rebirth of the Ancient Religion of the Goddess: 20th Anniversary Edition; Necronomicon, and under the Subject of BODY, MIND & SPIRIT/ Divination / Tarot such books as: The Heart of the Tarot (Trade PB) and many more.

What was missed in the Zondervan and Twentieth Century Fox press release information was the fact that HarperCollins Publishers, of which Zondervan is a division, is part of publisher Rupert Murdoch's Net Corp. - the owner of Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. From the May 10, DVD press release, it was stated that Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment is the marketing, sales and distribution company for all Fox film and television programming on VHS and DVD, and a unit of Fox Filmed Entertainment, a Fox Entertainment Group company.

The "distribution agreement" between Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment and Zondervan should astound no one, based on this information….”

That should just about cover it.  Documented!

Later interesting addition showing not only Rupert Murdoch's, but also pastor Rick Warren's (author of the Purpose Driven Life blasphemy) true colors:

...Murdoch's decision to run porn channels represents "a clear case of a Christian openly committing a monstrous and unthinkable sin."

"Sadly, Murdoch's actions have already damaged his credibility as a Christian," added Rosebrough. "If Pastor Warren does not act swiftly and call on Murdoch to dismantle his porn distribution network, then the credibility of the Christian message will be compromised around the globe."

The ties between Warren and Murdoch go beyond the spiritual. Murdoch also owns Zondervan, the company that published Warren's explosive bestseller "The Purpose Driven Life."

"We hope that Warren's business ties to Murdoch's company haven't clouded his judgment and impacted his resolve to carry out his biblical duty as Murdoch's pastor," added Rosebrough.

News of Murdoch's hard-core porn venture broke in the London publication The Business late last year. The story alluded to the seeming contradiction of a "born-again Christian" building a hard-core porn network.

Multiple WND messages left with News Corp. seeking a response were unanswered.

Warren, who did not respond to WND's email requests to address the controversy, has at least twice publicly claimed Murdoch as a member of his church.

In a New Yorker interview published in September 2005, Warren is quoted as saying: "I had dinner with Jack Welch (former chief executive officer of GE) last Sunday night. He came to church, and we had dinner. I've been kind of mentoring him on his spiritual journey. And he said to me, 'Rick, you the biggest thinker I have ever met in my life. The only other person I know who thinks globally like you is Rupert Murdoch.' And I said, 'That's interesting. I'm Rupert's pastor! Rupert published my book!"

In a Nov. 12, 2006, Orange County Register story, Warren was asked about pastoring a man who publishes tabloids featuring topless women. He responded: "I don't have to agree with 100 percent of what another person does in order to work with them on the 20 percent that we do agree on."

The article also points out Murdoch was among the first patrons to support Warren's PEACE plan, contributing $2 million.

Even Warren's critics point out he maintains an otherwise exemplary record in speaking out against pornography and its effects. His church's website,, regularly publishes condemnations of porn and urges Christians to battle it in their communities.

Yet, even before the BSkyB venture into hard-core porn, Murdoch's News Corp. was steeped in the business.

"News Corp. is a major owner of DirecTV, which sells more pornographic films than (Hustler magazine founder and porn film producer Larry) Flynt," says porn fighter Gail Dines, professor of American Studies at Boston's Wheelock College. "In 2000, the New York Times reported that nearly $200 million a year is spent by the 8.7 million subscribers to DirecTV. Among News Corp.'s other media holdings are the Fox Broadcasting and cable TV networks, 20th Century Fox, the New York Post and TV Guide. Welcome to synergy: Murdoch also owns Harper Collins, which published pornography star Jenna Jameson's best-selling book, 'How To Make Love Like a Porn Star.'"

Murdoch built his media empire as an Australian newspaper heir who added topless, alluring Page 3 girls to the mix – a practice some of his papers, including the British holding the Sun, still follow today. Last week he made a bid to buy the Wall Street Journal...."  — "Murdoch pastor gets heat for mogul's porn channels Christian ; leaders question Rick Warren for church's cozy ties with Fox owner."  WorldNetDaily. Eve; semantics: did she eat from the wrong fruit
tree, or partake of the forbidden thing?

Our reply to a reader, Donny, after receiving his follow-up question/comments.  Donny is having a problem with the whole Eve & satan thing in Genesis chapter three.  We get a lot of these indignant responses from Christians regarding Eve in the Garden of Eden.  It seems that people can't shake the watered-down "apple" or "fruit tree" stories out of their head.  So that when presented with the whole ugly truth, they reject it as too remarkable to conceive.  This is the great danger of the endtime churches who have replaced truth for a lie; and in doing so, have seriously hinder their Bible students (if that's what you could call today's pew-potatoes) from grasping the reality of God's written Word in it's fullness, thus robbing them of a clearer understanding of why God did, and shall do, what He did and shall do.  That's what the Bible is all abouthelping us understand what God wants, no expects, from us.  How can we understand what God expects, if we cannot understand what He said?  That is the solemn task set before all whom teach Biblehelping Christians to understand what God said.  We do not make the Scriptures, we merely attempt to make them clear to the student great and small.

Our conversation with Donny in the two E-mails was heated at times, but he will come out of it a better man, and with a better understanding, hopefully.

Hello Donny.  I really don't have extra time to argue on the Internet. I will briefly answer a couple of points in your latest e-mail, then I must move forward with people who are interested in what the Scripture states, not in defending what their corrupt and/or unaware preachers have told them.  Perhaps you a little too much time on your hands?  Why not spend it reading God's Word?

You said:

"You want the Word of God? Here it is!
Gen. 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the Lord had made. And he said, unto the woman, yea, hath God said,
"Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?"  Do you see that? The serpent formed what God had said, a direct "don't do this" into a question to Eve!  (the serpent is saying" Are you sure that's what God said Eve?") He deceived her! He caused her to question what the Lord had actually said! Causing disobedience, not the eating of a fruit, but committing the act of disobedience.
Romans 5:19, For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
Proof enough! Not the fruit, the disobedience!"

Yes Donny, they were disobedient.   I just know what that disobedience was, and you do not.  Disobedience is a category, just like "crime" is a category.  So if I read in the newspaper that, say, Donny, committed a crime; I would not know whether it was murder or rape unless more specifics were given.  Well, likewise, Adam and Eve were disobedient, yes; but that doesn't fully explain it.  Adam and Eve wanted to be gods, that was their disobedience. (among other acts which you reject out of feigned shock that sex would instrumental is satan's evil designs).

Genesis 3:4-5
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.  KJV

You said:

"Concerning the birth of Cain.
And Adam knew (had sex) with Eve his wife and she conceived and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the Lord.
Not Satan, not the serpent, the Lord!"

I can't hardly bring myself to say this, but, by your interpretation, God was the father of CainGod forbid!.  You would have great difficulty defending your interpretation against challenge.  Obviously you are missing something in your understanding of the Scripture.

And actually, what Eve said in the Hebrew was "I have gotten a man, even Yehovah".  Eve knew that God told her that she would bring forth offspring, because He told her so in Gen 3:16, but she had no idea of what was going on.

Genesis 3:16
16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.  KJV

Also, in your Scripture, read the very next verse; it says "...and she again bare...".  That word "again" in the Hebrew means "to continue to do a thing."

"and she again": Hebrew word #3254 yacaph (yaw-saf'); a primitive root; to add or augment (often adverbial, to continue to do a thing): KJV - add, again, any more, cease, come more, conceive again, continue, exceed, further, gather together, get more, give more-over, henceforth, increase (more and more), join, longer (bring, do, make, much, put), (the, much, yet) more (and more), proceed (further), prolong, put, be [stronger-], yet, yield.

"bare": Hebrew word #3205  yalad (yaw-lad'); a primitive root; to bear young; causatively, to beget; medically, to act as midwife; specifically, to show lineage:  KJV - bear, beget, birth ([-day]), born, (make to) bring forth (children, young), bring up, calve, child, come, be delivered (of a child), time of delivery, gender, hatch, labour, (do the office of a) midwife, declare pedigrees, be the son of, (woman in, woman that) travail (-eth, -ing woman).

Continue to do what thing?  To "to continue to do" what "thing"?  Her labor!  Cain and Able were fraternal twinssame pregnancy, different sperm cells.  The underlined numbers in the below picture are the Strong's numbers, and you check them out in your Strong's (or on free on-line Strong's [but be careful, some of the free ones are not accurate in all places]).  Also, you can see why Eve named Cain, Cain.  In fact, her declaration was simply to explain why she called Cain, "Cain."  Observe that Cain (Qayin) comes from "I have gotten" (Qaaniytiy):

Some Q&A's from the site that will help you get a better understanding of what happened in the garden of Eden, are as follows:

  1. "And the woman said, 'The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat'." Means what?

  2. Was Eve's sin more than simply sexual in nature?  And just what exactly did Adam do?

  3. What did Eve "eat" ('akal) in Gen 3:13―was it apples or adultery?

  4. Who were the OTHER TREES in the Garden of Eden , that Adam & Eve could PARTAKE of?

  5. The "other trees" in the Garden of Eden

  6. The Serpent Seed Doctrine in other non-Christian historical references, and In the written traditions of other non-Christian Religions

  7. Was all of mankind unfairly punished for Adam's sin?

  8. Was Cain a 'Giant?'

  9. How could the fallen angels of Gen 6 have impregnated flesh women?

  10. Why were women specifically warned to have the veil of Christ over them?

Home assignment, Donny.  No replies from you till you've read the ten above short studies.  Ok?  The reason is that I don't want to expend valuable time covering things that I have already put to writing, that you can check on your own.  Hopefully, after your studies you will have gleaned a new understanding of the events in the Garden of Eden.  And if after seeing the facts and explanations, and you still disagreewell, we can agree to disagree and still be Christian brethren.  I have not written anything that could be misconstrued as blasphemy (like your statement about Eve, Cain, and God, COULD BE misconstrued by the ignorant.  But I know that you meant no blasphemy).  Perhaps now you can see how difficult my task is to write without being misunderstood?  How about a little charity here, Donny?  Try to understand what I am trying to say, instead of adding to my thoughts your own ideas, to create your own interpretation of my writing, which I have not meant.

     You said:

"I must know. And it is only out of curiosity, so it is not a slap at you. Do you believe in the virgin birth? Do you believe in a physical death of Jesus and on the third day a physical resurrection of Jesus? If you do, then all I ask is a simple yes, if not, please explain."

"Not a slap at me," huh?  Why, because you preface the slap with a disclaimer?  That's like saying, "I'm not calling you stupid, but....", and then going on to show someone how stupid they are.  Games, Donny, games.  I've seen them all.  Why waste our time with this type of conduct?  Don't you have anything else that you could be doing?  How about reading your Bible, or going fishing or something?  :o)

Though I am above your sophomoric attempts at cleverness, Donny, you do insult me by asking the above questions.  (Now that was a slick "slap," was it not?).  Ok, seriously; have you not read my website?  How about our Statement of faith ?  Of course I believe that Jesus was born of a virgin, died on a cross, resurrected on the third day, is now seated in Heaven at the right hand of the Father, and shall return in glory at the end of this our world.  I believe the Bible, Donny.  You're the one with the problem understanding here, not I.  But I wouldn't insult a Christian, by in effect, alluding to the fact that he is a unbeliever in what God's Word says of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Quit playing games.

I hardly have time to answer sincere Bible students looking for Sculpturally documented answers and facts, much less having time for playing games with those who like to accuse the brethren, subtly.  Somebody else today won't get an answer to their heartfelt Bible question, because I spent an hour on this.  Do you care?  Nevertheless, I was led to spend the time and answer you fully, even taking the time to capture a picture of the transliterated manuscripts of Gen 4:1-2.  God knows why.  Are you worth the time?  Apparently God feels so.  I just ask that you show a little respect and common courtesy if you are going to ask my help with a Scripture or a interpretation.  That's not too much to ask, is it?

Peace, and get on the ball, Donny.

God bless the study of His Word, in Jesus Christ's name!

More Bible students injured and confused at Pastor Lance Knight's hand

[Added note:  These "Lance Knight" Q&A's are not in chronological order as to the time which we have received them at WBSG.  Sorry if this has caused any confusion.  Many times we answer a readers question in an E-mail, and it may take weeks and months for it to appear on the Website.  Also, not all questions answered are placed on the Website, only the ones that we feel are relevant to a general wider audience.  Some questions are of a personal nature and are never seen by anyone other than the person who asked the question. -Ed.]

We have received many letters and questions regarding Pastor Lance Knight's (of the Kings Chapel) new doctrines.  Below is an example of the harm that this man and his mean-spirited and heretical followers is doing to the cause of Christ:

[Preface note to the reader, to enable a better understanding the below reader's pained statements:

In case you haven't heard, Pastor Lance Knight of the (aparently now folded) King's Chapel ministry, has of late, in Internet streaming-audio messages, been referring to Pastor Arnold Murray (of the Shepherds Chapel) as THE Antichrist (!) and "the tree of the knowledge of good and evil" from the Garden of Eden (!), and he has also referred to Pastor Murray's students (and all other Christians, not likeminded with Lance Knight,) as "antichrists," where satan supposedly (according to Lance) has set up his (the antichrist's) temple within them!  In doing this evil thing, bringing demonic heresy and accusations, Pastor Knight has scared many Bible students, and confused the heck out of everyone and the all the Scriptures regarding to the Tribulation, as well.  Gee, now who do you think benefits from that?  Answer:  antichrist―satan!

As though that weren't bad enough enough, Lance Knight has also stated that "the Sixth Trump has sounded, and the Seventh is beginning to sound."  The implications of that would be enormous, were it true.  But it is not true.  For, had the Seventh Trump already "begun" to sound, then the antichrist would have already been here for most of his allotted time on this Earth.  And, to carry Lance's new "doctrine" further: had antichrist already come here, then we need not watch out carefully for his deceptive appearingthus, we would be spiritually disarmed.  This whole new "doctrine" smells like a cover for antichrist (satan).  There are many other bizarre things that Lance Knighthas stated; such as saying that the Two Witnesses (of Rev 11) are already here, and that one of them is the Archangel Michael incarnated into fleshof whom Lance has alluded to himself being!  The man has lost it!  Oddly, he retains a core of followers who apparently aren't disturbed by his false prophecies and skewed doctrines.  Water seeks it's own level, I suppose.

Pastor Lance Knight was once respected as having a sound Internet Ministry and he also performed local church services in his community; and until his spiritual infection (possession), and his closing down of his own ministry, Lance Knight had always had nothing but complimentary words for the work of Pastor Arnold Murray of the Shepherds Chapel.  Lance has utterly gone off the deep end.  Neither he nor his misguided followers can be trusted, they have gone over to the other side.]

Xxxxxxx (name omitted by WBSG) writes:

"Hi.  I'm writing because I saw your name on thine is the power and glory website.  I went on there because I couldn't understand how an alleged student of Shepard's Chapel [Pastor Lance Knight of his own King's Chapel―the renegade ex-student of Pastor Murray's Shepherds Chapel Bible teaching] could do such a one eighty.  It scares me.  I'm still a "young Christian" and I'm not as good at recognizing if someone is twisting scripture or what.  All I know is that if I thought somebody was deceiving people I would tell them why.  I have always prayed to Father to keep me on the right track.  I write to you now because you helped me with a question before and I have visited your site numerous times and the stuff on it makes sense. At the moment I'm trying to stay in the word the best I know how and I'm still going to sow seeds. [the writer makes that statement because Lance knight is discouraging everyone from spreading the Gospel by what he screams repeatedly in his audios, that being: "CHURCH IS OVER!"]

And after asking the reader for clarification, we received the below:

"Hi again,  I wrote to you to see if you had an opinion about what is going on with these people [Lance Knight's cruel and bitter followers].  Yes, I do seek understanding from people. I try to ask people who make sense to me and seem well founded in the Bible. I also do try to check them out the best I can in the Bible.  I have however decided to get off that board.  Those people are seeing something I don't.  Most of it does not make sense to me.  They tell you not to listen to man or sacrifice Bullinger's blood and then they have an article written by a man and send you to read a article by Bullinger [E.W. Bullinger―famed 19th Century Bible Scholar].  I started to lose my peace and joy in the Lord and there is something wrong with that.  I developed a love for God by listening to PM [Pastor Arnold Murray of Shepherds Chapel] teach the Word.  That is not evil.  It's going to be just me praying to Father and reading the Bible for a while.

Answer to Xxxxxxxxx:

Hi Xxxxxx.  I am at a bit of a disadvantage.  I haven't been to the "thine is the power and glory website".  Perhaps somebody has quoted me there and you thought that I myself was there?

Anyway, I think that I know what you are speaking about.  Could it be the Lance Knight flip-flop?  Nevertheless, you can never go wrong doing what you said you are going to do: "just me praying to Father and reading the Bible"

But don't let the wolves in sheep's clothing chase you away from good sound Bible teachers either.  All Christians, busy in their everyday work and responsibilities, can benefit from a gifted Bible teacher who has the time to spend the whole day studying the Scriptures, with the Lord helping through the Holy Spirit.  And even God and Christ in the Bible ordained teachers.  So there is nothing wrong with learning from a good and founded Christian teacher/preacher.  The 'trick' is to find a good one.  Prayer shall help you in that also.

1 Corinthians 12:28

Hell verses the Lake of Fire; what is the difference?  And what of Lazarus and the Rich Man?

A reader writes:

1.  Luke 16:19-31  Lazarus and the rich man -  Says that the rich man is in hell separated by a gulf.  Is the rich man in hell or heaven?

2.  Rev. 20:4-5  Says the rest of the dead lived not until after the 1000 years are over.  Are they dead?  Eccl. 12:17 Says the soul returns to God upon death.  I'm confused!

Hello.  The parable of Lazarus and the rich man is just that, a parable. It is showing that there is a place for the bad and a place for the good.  In other words, the purpose or message of the parable was that 'we better be good.'  This is a common and simple theme illustrated in other places in the Scriptures.

The English word here, "Hell," literally in the Greek, actually is the grave:

hell:  Greek word #86  haides (hah'-dace); from NT:1 (as negative particle) and NT:1492; properly, unseen, i.e. "Hades" or the place (state) of departed souls:  KJV - grave, hell.

Below we see the Scripture which you inquire of, utilizing this word "hell" (haides):

Luke 16:23
And in hell [haides] he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.  KJV

For comparison and as a means to understand the usage of the word "hell" (haides), we also see this same Greek word translated into our same English word "hell" in the below Scripture:

Acts 2:31
31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell [haides], neither his flesh did see corruption.  KJV

The above New Testament Scripture in Acts was a fulfillment of the Old Testament Scripture below (which came into our English Old Testament by way of the Hebrew):

Ps 16:10
10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.  KJV

And the term "corruption" in the above and in the Acts verse, is not referring to "corruption" in a moral sense, but in the corruption of a dead body; i.e., the decomposition of a corpse back into the dust that it was fashioned of.  The "corruption" term used above, finds It's parallel in the teaching in Corinthians, regarding the two bodies, flesh and spiritual:

1 Cor 15:42-44
42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It [the persons body] is sown in corruption [buried as a flesh corpse]; it is raised in incorruption [a spiritual body which does not decompose in a grave]:
43 It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:
44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.  KJV

One final note on your Luke 16 parable: you notice that Christ finished with a curious saying, "neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead"; which was referring to when He returned, after His resurrection, that this would not be enough to convince the reprobate "Jews" of His time:

Luke 16:31
31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets [the Old Testament writings which they had], neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.  KJV

Regarding your question #2 (and I applaud you for supplying Scripture with your query! Sometimes it takes longer to figure out which Scripture a questioner is asking about, than it does to answer the actual question.).  You ask:

"Rev. 20:4-5  Says the rest of the dead lived not until after the 1000 years are over.  Are they dead?  Eccl. 12:17 Says the soul returns to God upon death.  I'm confused!"

Are they dead?  Yes, they died in the flesh world which we currently live in.  But Revelation chapter 20 is the Millennium, wherein all are in spiritual bodies, not flesh.  So yes, their spirit is with God, but as the parable of Lazarus shows us, they are not at all in good standing.  Their fate shall be determined on Judgment Day in Rev 20:11ff (forward).  Just to be "with God," now, does not mean that one is "saved;" for even today, satan is "with God" but he is condemned to the Lake of Fire (which we commonly mislabel as "hell".

The confusion in this ("hell" verses "the Lake of Fire") lies in a misunderstanding that "hell" is eternal torture.  It is not.  It is external, yes, but it is not a physical torture chamber of God.  The so-called "going to hell after judgment" (which is really the going into the Lake of Fire) is a permanent blotting out of a soul, it is non-existence.  I know that most Christians do not understand this, because from since a little child they were told that if they are bad that they are "going to hell."  This is a tradition (teaching) of man that has utterly confused the outcome of Judgment Day as it is stated in Rev 20:11ff.

In other words, what we today refer to as "going to hell" (as in being the ultimate punishment for the wicked) is actually the  "going into the Lake of Fire" in the Bible.  For even "hell" itself is finally cast into the Lake of Fire.  The lake of Fire is the ultimate end of the wicked and unsaved.  It IS what we are saved from when we become "saved."  It IS the second death, which the faithful escape:

Rev 20:14
14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.  KJV

Now, those who overcame in Rev 20:5-6, are not liable to end up in this second death (the death of a soul), for they are resurrected at the first ressurection, before Judgment Day:

Rev 20:6
6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.  KJV

But not all are "awakened" (resurrected) in the first resurrection, only the martyrs of Christ from the Tribulation are.  Many of those who died in the days of old, in good standing, shall resurrect at Judgment Day to receive their reward of eternal life; and many shall "awake" at Judgment Day to receive their condemnation to the Lake of Fire (the second [eternal] death):

Rev 20:5
5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This [those of vs. 4 below] is the first resurrection.  KJV

Rev 20:4
4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.  KJV
["this" is "the first resurrection" of vs.5]

So, after this first resurrection, and then after also when satan is lossed 'a little season" comes the Judgment Day (the second resurrection), with it's rewards and punishments.  The whole of Judgment Day goes like this:

Rev 20:11-15
11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.  KJV

That's it!  They are gone forever, finito, finished, perished forever.  Then we see the NEW Heaven and Earth begin (for the former has passed away; i.e., it is no more).  Here we are all in spiritual bodies, and all the wicked ones are perished forever in the Lake of Fire.  The below is what we commonly refer to as "going to Heaven":

Rev 21:1-8
21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone [Lake of Fire]: which is the second death.  KJV

Marriage & Divorce in the Bible

A reader writes:

"When was marriage first mentioned in the Bible?"

Hi Jeanine.  It was first mention shortly after 4004 B.C. (the date that Adam was formed in the Garden of Eden).  Below we see God first ordain the institution of marriage:

Genesis 2:21-25
21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife : and they shall be one flesh.
25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife , and were not ashamed.  KJV

The second marriage in the Bible was that of Cain:

Genesis 4:16-17
16 And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.
17 And Cain knew his wife ; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.  KJV

The first actual wedding event mentioned in the Bible is found in:

Genesis 24:63-67
63 And Isaac went out to meditate in the field at the eventide: and he lifted up his eyes, and saw, and, behold, the camels were coming.
64 And Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and when she saw Isaac, she lighted off the camel.
65 For she had said unto the servant, What man is this that walketh in the field to meet us? And the servant had said, It is my master: therefore she took a vail, and covered herself.
66 And the servant told Isaac all things that he had done.
67 And Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah's tent, and took [sexual intercourse] Rebekah, and she became his wife; and he loved her: and Isaac was comforted after his mother's death.  KJV

So much for long engagements.  :o)

As you can see, the way the "became married" in the old days was that they had sexual intercourse.  This made the woman the wife of the man.  That is why the woman's chastity was so guarded.  Today, women have many husbands by the Biblical standard.  Which, by Biblical standards, makes them adulteresses after their first 'sexual partner.'  And the Biblical punishment for adultery is death, it is a capital offense:

Leviticus 20:10
10 And the man that committeth adultery with another man's wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbour's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.  KJV

It seems that we have forgotten the ten Commandments, wherein it declares:

Exodus 20:14
14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.  KJV

Now you can see why satan inspired the "Sexual Revolution" of the sixties.  His goal was to destroy what God had ordained.  And we all fell for it, didn't we?

As time went on, they adopted more elaborate ceremonies for the wedding.  This included a feast of several days and a contract of sorts; for, we see God command that a Bill of Divorcement must be given to a divorced woman from the ex-husband.  This implies that the marriage had become an actual legal contract of sorts.

In the below we see that God Himself declares that a legal document (probably oral at the first, but later in written form--as we have found actual records of ancient divorce documents in Egypt) must be given the wife that is cast away by her husband so that she may freely remarry.  In this case she would not be an adultness to remarry another man.  God was looking out for the women, because the men oftentimes did not.  They would just leave their wife and take up another, leaving the woman in a bind.  For, back then, women needed men for their very survival; and when a woman was put-away without a 'legal' divorce, she could not marry again.  And she could never live in a sexual relationship without being married--so she was stuck to fend for herself, alone forever (until the husband died).  God saw to this inconsistency, and He ordained the Bill of Divorcement, but He never did like divorce:

Deuteronomy 24:1-2
24:1 When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house.
2 And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man's wife.  KJV

Jesus tells us that God had Moses ordain the Bill of Divorcement, not because God approved of divorce, but because man messed-up the institution of marriage:

Mark 10:2-9
2 And the Pharisees came to him, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away [divorce] his wife? tempting him.
3 And he answered and said unto them, What did Moses command you?
4 And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away.
5 And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept.
6 But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.
7 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;
8 And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.
9 What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.  KJV

However, as you have probably noticed, a woman was not allowed to seek, nor had she the power to, grant a divorce.  Once she gave herself to a man in marriage, she was bound for the life of the husband.  After he died she was free to remarry.  Today this is not so.  The greatest majority of divorces today are initiated by women.  Some may say that this is more "fair," but look at the sad state of the institution of marriage today because of the Women's Liberation Movementthe sister dysfunctional (and satan inspired) social movement to the Sexual Revolution.  Marriage today means little, and a man is hard-pressed to find a virgin to marry any more.  So you decide which was betterGod's way, or man's way.  Does anybody really value a woman's virginity anymore?  I mean, other than God?  I wonder!  And if you young men out there find onecherish hershe is a rarity today, if she is over 15 or 16 years old (yes, I knowI'm being generous).  And don't try to be so slicklet her retain her vow to the Lord until marriage; for, once she gives it away, she can never get it back.

On a side note: the last wedding event mentioned in the Bible is the wedding feast of (at the town of) Cana, wherein Jesus performed His first miracleHe turned water into wine.

John 2:1-11
2:1 And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:
2 And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.
3 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.
4 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.
5 His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.
6 And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.
7 Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.
8 And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.
9 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,
10 And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.
11 This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.  KJV

There are other symbolic marriages mentioned in Revelation and the Gospels which refer to the union of Christians with Christ, but this type of wedding is symbolic, it is not like the weddings of a human man and woman (obviously).

Hope that helps you.

God bless the study of His Word, in Jesus Christ's name!

A Bio of Watchmen Bible Study Group and the author of the works contained therein

Susan writes:

I came across your site when searching for a teaching about "the earth that then was."  I am familiar with that teaching and it is exactly what I have been taught by a serious Bible scholar.

But what is the your background?  Who is writing the articles and the answers to the questions?  Is a group or just you, the editor.  What is your name?  How did this website come about?

Thank you for your time in responding.

God Bless You for your work,

Hello Susan.  And that "serious Bible scholar" would be Pastor Arnold Murray, would he not?  I agree with you, he is a gifted and blessed, serious of the serious, Bible scholar.

Regarding Watchmen Bible Study group (WBSG), all articles and answers are written by myself, Nick Goggin; and at the bottom of every page is my signature.  I am the editor and manager of the Website, and am solely responsible for content.

A little bit about myself

My name is Nicholas Goggin and I am a 45 year old, male, of Anglo-Saxon (German/Irish) ancestry, American, and living in Chicago, Illinois.  I have been in Illinois Law Enforcement for eighteen years (further than that, I would rather not say, as it has no bearing on the Website, and besides, policy dictates that Law Enforcement Officers do not bring their "religion" to the job.  All are served, regardless of religion or lack thereof.)

I have always believed in God, and was a Christian before I even fully knew what that meant.  Though, like most Christians today, I really didn't understand the Bible, and was a Christian more on faith, than on discovery of Bible truth.  In other words, I believe upon Jesus Christ as Savior, Son of God; though I couldn't tell you were in the Bible to prove it.  I was born into a Catholic family, but was never a devout Catholic.  And after opening my Bible, I could never be a Catholic again; for, they differ so greatly with our Lord's written Word.  But as a child, what did I know?  At least they were a Christian faith, and not Muslim or Jewish, or whatever.  So I thank my mother for giving me a Christian background that never really leaves one; we may leave it, but it never leaves us.

The Lord touched my heart and gave me a great desire to answer His call of  "learn of me" (Mat 11:29), sometime around 1989 or 1990.  In a private way, that Scripture (supplied below) had meant much to me long ago:

Matthew 11:28-30
28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.  KJV

At, what I believe was the Lord's urging, some fifteen years ago, I began my serious search of the Scriptures under the able teaching of Pastor Arnold Murray, of the Shepherds Chapel.  I now presently study alone with the Holy Spirit guiding, and also keep abreast of trends in ministry and religion through the Internet; I do this later thing to keep a finger on the pulse of what is happening out there, so that I may warn when necessary, correct with Scripture where applicable, and simply observe and record when prudent.  And I am never ashamed to learn something new from a Bible teacherif, that isit aligns with Scripture, and can be shown me that it does.  So I am not against studying under another; I just at the present time do not.  Though I do keep aware of the teachings of many teachers.  And I am always willing to hear someone's Scriptural argument, and would change any position if it could be proven through the Scriptures.  I feel that this is model for all sincere and serious students of the Bible.

Watchmen Bible Study Group Website

I began the Website probably about six to eight years ago; I honestly don't remember exactly when; for, I was writing Bible studies before I had ever written one for the Internet.  The Watchmen Bible Study Group Website project began as an offshoot of my own studies, and started small.  I just wanted a place to put all my studies together; and if anyone came, that was fine; and if they didn't, that was fine too.  Today we get hundreds of hits per day on our WebPagesfrom all over the globe.  The site management and materials are provided for out of my own pocket, and from donations from like-minded readers.  As with Pastor Murray, we never "beg for funding," but simply place a small "donate" box at the top of every Bible study page, knowing that people realize that there are expenses involved in an endeavor such as thisand ultimately preferring to let the Lord bless where He will bless, and to do without where He does not.  It has been tight at times, but He has always came through in times of need to provide that which was necessary to go on and keep the Website going.  Readership is steadily going up, even though we do not advertise.  For the month of June 2005, we had an average of 424 Bible students visit the Website each day.  The Website has always been blessed in that area.

A word on perfection

Regarding content; over the years that the Website has been up (at least six years and over 320 articles to date) my personal studies have led me to deeper and more accurate studies of several topics.  And being that I work alone, it is not possible to update every page regularly.  So that the reader may find some scant few "inconsistencies" in some topic points.  For that I am sorry, but like I said; it is not possible under my present conditions to go through the Website and update every page, every article.  Most times the changes are regarding the deeper or secondary meaning of a Scripture, or, in the fine intricacies of a prophecy interpretation (which all may agree is not "perfect science", and that we may all find, in the end, that we were each a little bit off), but they do not ever (that I know of) affect the basic Scriptural truth.

As for typos and misspellings; well, I am getting better at that; but as any English Teacher would probably attest toI still have room for improvement in that.  And I certainly can't afford a proofreader.  No volunteers please, you'll hurt my feelings. :o)  My older studies show the growth that I have made; and it pains me to read the older stuff sometimes, because at heart I am a perfectionist.  But there is so much necessary information in those older studies, and I don't have the time or resources to update them all, that it would be a shame to pull them down for some little thing that most people don't catch anyway, and that isn't a salvation issue (it's mostly in the realm of prophecy interpretation).  Wherever one should find a contradiction, the newer study should be followed.  I do not say this to state that the site is full of errors, that is not at all the case, but is merely my honest way of treating a sensitive phenomena; that being that, all teachers learn more as they go, so that their later understanding is greater than at the first.  Nobody can avoid that, and I guarantee you that no Bible teacher will fault me in thisin fact, they may feel relived to know that people will understand if they change their mind on certain teachings.  Else, how can one grow?  And what good is a Bible teacher if his learning is stagnant and does not even bring himself up to greater understandings regarding the sometimes hard sayings in God's Word.  And if not even himself, how can he benefit you?  To Bible teachers, home church leaders, and those who simply witness to friends and family; let me say this:  It is better to just tell someone that your studies have led you to a better understanding of a Scripture, than to try to defend a bad position out of shame and pride.  Did not even the great Paul say:

1 Corinthians 13:8-13
8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
11 When I was a child, I spake as a child , I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.  KJV

And may I also include here the humble words of my favorite Bible teacher of all times, E. W. Bullinger (1837-1913) ?

Bullinger on Imperfection:

None are more cognizant of imperfection and failure than ourselves; and, after all we have done, there is still much left for others to do.  We do not exhaust the book; and may, after all, have only laid out a road on which others may follow with far greater success.  We claim only one thing - an earnest desire to believe God; and to receive what He has said, regardless alike of the praise of man or the fear of man; and quite apart from all traditional beliefs or interpretations.  May the Lord own and use and bless our efforts for His own Glory and the good of His people.

― E.W. Bullinger, The Apocalypse, xii (as quoted in E.W. Bullinger, A Biography, ppg. 233-234).

Well, in company like that, with wisdom such as that, no Bible teacher ought ever fear to make correction, never be ashamed to grow; and always remain perseverant to admit to change honestly.  Though as any Bible teacher knows, it is a very painful thing to do.  But until we're perfect, we had better learn to do so.  Else we are not be being honest with those who trusted us―God forbid!

Regarding Website Content

I alone am responsible for the teaching on the Website (WBSG), and am in no way affiliated with, or sanctioned by, Pastor Arnold Murray or His Shepherds Chapel Network; nor with any other ministry.  Nor do I sanction any other particular ministry or Bible Website (though there are still some good ones out there).  I mentioned Pastor Murray only as a means to give credit where credit is due, and in no way desire to glean credibility from him, or scorn because of him from his detractors.  I'm a big boy, I will stand or fall by my own work.  There are millions of sound Bible students who have benefited greatly from Pastor Murray's competent work at the helm of the Shepherds Chapel.  And I am sure that all would say along with me, that we truly do appreciate his contributions greatly.

And, while I feel that out of the plethora of television ministries, Pastor Murray is the best one out there today; but through my own studies I have come to see a couple of things slightly differently than PM teaches them.  But these are in matters such as prophecy study, and not in salvation Scriptures.  I respect Pastor Arnold Murray as a blessed and gifted teacher of God's written Word, the Bible; but I also understand that there was no perfect man, save for the Man that came from above―Christ Jesus.  So I do as the good Pastor Murray himself implores: I check out all contemporary men by the Scriptures, and agree with them where I feel that they are in harmony with the Spirit of the Scripture, and disagree with them where I feel that they differ from the intended meaning on any particular Scriptural interpretation.  And I am always careful to attempt to show my reasoning by supplying the relevant Scriptures to back up my interpretations.  That way, it is not my opinion that they read, but what the Scriptures mean.  They can read my documentation themselves, and come to their own conclusions.  I pray that I have not ever failed in keeping to that charge, and to have always earnestly acted in good conscience when illustrating an interpretation of any given Scripture.  I am willing to be wrong, or to make a human mistake, but I simply refuse to deceive or mislead.  I trust that God will honor His promise in that.  I consider honesty and good-intentioned sincerity in Bible teaching to be a responsibility of the highest order, and one that all who teach the Scriptures shall be judged by.  Bible teaching is not to be taken lightly; for, as it is written:  "It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God." (Heb 10:31).  And God don't play.

No man is perfect; and while all sincere Bible teachers, Bible sharers, and Bible students, alike, are striving for that goal: the best of us know that we simply can't ever be perfect, nor can any mere mortal be 100% correct 100% of the time.  God would not allow it, lest that man be made an idol.

That is humbling to the humble heart.

Hope that helps.  God bless, and peace to you.

PS:  Thank you, Susan; for, through you asking your questions, I have been able to speak on some matters that all who read here have a right to know.  You may also glean further info from our Statement of faith.  And though I often way behind in my mail; you or anyone else may always contact me for questions, confirmation, greater clarity and explanation, or to voice agreement or disagreement.

God bless the study of His Word, in Jesus Christ's name!
